Compatibility & Installation
This policy explains what you must check before buying and how installation and activation usually work.
Check Before Purchase
You are responsible for confirming that your exact device model supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked before buying.
Install Before Travel
Install while you still have stable internet. Most plans start when the eSIM first connects to a supported destination network, but provider rules can vary.
1. Device Support
Most recent iPhones, Pixels, and Samsung Galaxy devices support eSIM, but model, region, carrier, and operating-system differences matter. Some devices sold in certain countries or by certain carriers do not support eSIM.
2. Carrier Unlock
Your device must be carrier-unlocked to use most travel eSIMs. A phone can support eSIM but still reject a travel eSIM if it is locked to another carrier.
3. Destination and Coverage
Coverage depends on the plan, supported countries, partner carriers, local network conditions, signal strength, device bands, and outages. A plan for one country or region may not work outside its listed coverage area.
4. Installation Requirements
- Have reliable Wi-Fi or mobile data before scanning the QR code.
- Do not delete an installed eSIM unless support tells you to; many eSIM profiles cannot be reinstalled.
- Enable data roaming for the Lainey eSIM line if required.
- Select the Lainey eSIM as the mobile data line when you want to use it.
5. Activation Timing
Many plans begin validity when the eSIM first connects to a supported destination network, not when you scan the QR code. Some providers or plans may behave differently.
6. Refund Impact
Refunds are limited for device incompatibility, locked devices, unsupported destinations, accidental deletion, incorrect settings, or failure to check compatibility before purchase.
